01The agreement
These terms are the agreement between you and SwitchGauge, operated by Data Science London, for your use of the SwitchGauge web application at switchgauge.com. By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and forms part of this agreement.
02Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to hold an account.
- The details you register with must be accurate, and you must keep your sign-in credentials to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Tell us promptly at admin@switchgauge.com if you believe someone else has accessed it. You can review and revoke active sessions yourself from Settings.
- One account is for one person. Where your plan supports multiple vehicles or a fleet, those vehicles are still managed under your single account.
03What SwitchGauge is — and is not
SwitchGauge is a record-keeping and planning tool for vehicle owners. It stores the history you give it, calculates costs and efficiency from your entries, and reminds you about work you have scheduled.
It is not a substitute for a qualified mechanic, an inspection, or your legal obligations as a vehicle owner. Reminders, maintenance plans, diagnostic-code explanations, cost projections and AI suggestions are informational only. Whether your vehicle is roadworthy, taxed, insured and lawfully tested remains entirely your responsibility, and you should verify anything safety-related with a professional before acting on it.
The service does not provide navigation, real-time driving assistance, or emergency services. Do not interact with the app while driving.
04Plans, trials and billing
- Current plans, prices and included features are shown on the pricing page. Prices include VAT where applicable.
- Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe and renew automatically each period until cancelled.
- Where a free trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel before it ends.
- You can cancel at any time from your billing settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for; we do not pro-rate part-periods.
- If a payment fails we may retry it and may suspend paid features until it succeeds. Your data stays intact during a suspension.
- We may change prices with at least 30 days’ notice by email. The new price applies from your next renewal, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
Your statutory cancellation right
If you are a consumer in the UK or EU you normally have 14 days to cancel a distance contract. By starting your subscription and using the service immediately you ask us to begin supply within that period, and you acknowledge that you lose the right to cancel once the service has been fully supplied. This does not affect your other statutory rights. If something has gone wrong, contact us — we would rather sort it out than stand on the wording.
05Your content and vehicle data
Everything you put into SwitchGauge — vehicle records, service history, receipts, photos, documents and notes — remains yours. We claim no ownership of it.
You grant us a limited licence to store, process, back up and display that content solely to operate the service for you. We do not use it to train AI models, and we do not sell it.
You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload, and for the accuracy of your records. Export or copy anything you need before deleting your account, because deletion is final.
06Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law, or use the service to help someone else do so;
- upload content that infringes someone else’s rights, or personal data about other people that you have no basis to hold;
- attempt to access another account, bypass access controls, probe our infrastructure, or test its security without our written permission;
- scrape, resell or redistribute the service, or use automated means to place unreasonable load on it or to circumvent quotas and rate limits;
- upload malware, or deliberately disrupt other users’ access.
Found a security issue? Report it to admin@switchgauge.com. We welcome good-faith reports and will not pursue researchers who disclose responsibly and do not access other users’ data.
07AI features
Some plans include AI assistance. Where you use it, your prompt and the vehicle context it needs are sent to a third-party model provider to generate a response, and the usage is metered against your plan’s quota.
AI output can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Treat it as a suggestion to check, never as a diagnosis, a valuation, or a safety judgement. We are not liable for decisions taken on the strength of an AI response, and quotas, models and availability may change.
08Availability and changes
We work to keep SwitchGauge available and quick, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may take it down for maintenance, and depend on providers we do not control.
We improve the product continuously and may add, change or remove features. If we withdraw something material that your paid plan relies on, we will give you reasonable notice and, if you would rather not continue, a fair refund of the unused part of your term.
09Suspension and termination
You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that we are legally required to act on, or that is being used in a way that endangers the service or other users. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put it right.
On termination your right to use the service ends and we delete your data as set out in the Privacy Policy. Provisions that by their nature should survive — liability, governing law, and any fees already due — survive.
10Liability
The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss of data beyond what our backups hold.
Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period and £100.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
11General
- We may update these terms. For material changes we will give at least 30 days’ notice by email or in the app, and you may cancel before they take effect if you do not accept them.
- We may transfer this agreement as part of a sale or reorganisation of the business; your rights are unaffected. You may not transfer your account without our consent.
- If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. A delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver of it.
- These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or the EEA, you keep the protection of your local mandatory laws and may bring proceedings in your local courts.
